Time to Sleep Sheep the Sheep

Bibliography: Willems, M. (2010). Time to sleep, Sheep the Sheep!. New York: Balzer & Bray.

Annotation: This book is about the cat that informs all of her friends that it is late that it is time to sleep. She says this to the sheep, pig, giraffe, crab, horse, shark, and when she reaches the owl remembers that owls do not sleep. While all of the animals are asleep the owl asks if anyone would like to play checkers.

Genre: Fiction

Grade: Pre-1

Readers: Beginning readers would enjoy this book. Readers that are familiar with the Cat series and other Mo Willems books as well. Readers who are getting ready for bed would also enjoy this book as a bedtime story.

Rate/Response: 9 I really loved the repetition in this book. I feel this is a good book for a bed time story for young children. I also loved how it incorporated a wide range of animals.

Question: Do you normally read a story before you go to bed? Have you ever told anyone that it was time for bed?
