Readers who will like this: Readers who are interested in coming of age stories, historical fiction and adventure tales will thoroughly enjoy this book!
Response/Rating (1-4): I rate this book a 4! This was a fast paced, funny and thrilling ride! I love the imagery that Philbrick places throughout the story. "Every part of him smells of rot. His black teeth, his scabby eye socket, his crusty beard, all of it make a sick hog's fart smell sweet by comparison."... isn't that fabulous?!
One question ou would ask before a read aloud: Who can tell me what the Civil War was about?
