Happy Pig Day!

Bibliography: Willems, M. (2011). Happy Pig Day!. New York, NY; Hyperion Books for Children.

Brief Annotation: Piggy declares that it is happy pig day and is very very excited! This means speaking pig and pig parties with pig dancing! Gerald is very sad because he is not a pig, he doesn't look like one. Piggy cheers him up by saying that Pig day is for anyone who LOVES pigs!

Genre: Picture book, Animal Fiction

Grade Level: Pre-K-1st grade

Readers who will like this: Children who are learning about differences in people and who LOVE elephant and piggie books as much as I do!

Response/Rating: I personally LOVE this book! It is really cute and I think it is the perfect book to show to pre-K students to teach them that everyone is different. I would give this book a 4.

Question to ask before a read-aloud: Have you ever felt left out when you are with your friends because you are different from them?
