Bibliography: Scieszka, J., Smith, L., & Leach, M. (1992). The Stinky Cheese Man and other fairly stupid tales. New York, N.Y., U.S.A.: Viking
Annotation: The Stinky Cheese Man and other Fairly Stupid Tales is a bunch of fraction fairy tales. The tale I chose was Cinderumpelstiltskin. The story begins like the average Cinderella story but has a twist of an ending. Instead of receiving a visit from a fairy godmother Cinderella receives a visit from a man that says he help her spin straw into gold. The little man asks her to guess his name. Unfortunately she doesn’t so the little man shouts Rumpelstiltskin. When Cinderella’s step relatives return from the ball she explains the story and unfortunately her step relatives are even meaner and give her the new nickname.
Genre: Fiction
Grade: K-3
Readers: Readers that enjoy fractured fairy tales. Readers that also enjoy Cinderella books will also enjoy this book.
Rate/Response: 10 I really loved the twist at the end of the story. I also enjoyed the influence of Rumpelstiltskin within the story. It is also nice to see that Cinderella doesn’t always get her way.
Question: Have you ever heard of Cinderella? Who knows the stories of Cinderella and Rumpelstiltskin?
