The Lion and the Mouse

Bibliography: Pinkney, J. (2009). The Lion and the Mouse. New York, NY: Little Brown and Company
Brief Annotation: An almost wordless picturebook, this is the story of a mouse who runs across a lion in a savannah and they aren't too fond of each other at first. Then the lion ends up captured and in trouble, and the mouse is able to save him with a little present to bring back to his friends.
Genre: Picturebook
Grade Level: pre-K-1st grade
Readers who will like this: Children who are learning about socialization and making friends.
Response/Rating: I would give this book a 4 because it tells the story well even without text. The illustrations tell the story for me very well. I also like the moral of this story which I think is give new people a chance and they may surprise you.
Question to ask before a read-aloud: Have you ever seen someone where you didn't think that you would be friends and you did?
