Leonardo the Terrible Monster

Bibliographic Information: Willems, M. (2005). Leonardo the Terrible Monster. Hyperion Books for Children

Brief Annotation: Leonardo is a terrible monster, not the mean kind. He is literally terrible at being a monster and cannot scare anyone! After some research he finds someone even he can scare, Sam. Is Leonardo really a terrible monster-can he not scare ANYONE, including Sam or will Sam be left in tears?

Grade Level:P-3

Readers who will like this: Children who like scaring people; Children who are good friends to their fellow peers; Children who like monster books

Response/Rating:4; honestly want to meet and hug M. Willems after reading this book, so stinking cute. I especially liked his suggestion of age appropriate readers on the dust cover (For audiences as young as 3 and as old as 36) The message in this book is perfect, friends and their importance-a must read.

One question you would ask before a read aloud: Who is your best friend? What would you do if they tried to scare you?
