Gingerbread Baby

Bibliographic Information: Brett, J. (1999). Gingerbread Baby. New York, New York: Putnam's Sons.
Brief Annotation: Matti makes a gingerbread boy but peaks too soon while it's still baking (even though the recipe directions warn him not to!). A gingerbread baby then escapes out of the oven and no one can catch him! Matti comes up with a smart plan, but will it work?
Genre: Fiction
Grade Level: K-3
Readers who will like this: Readers who like adventure and fast-paced stories.
Rating (1-4) Response: 3. This book was really cute and fun. The gingerbread baby is smug and quick. Everyone tries to catch him, but it takes a smart boy to devise a plan.
One question you would ask before a read aloud: Have you ever had to come up with a quick plan? Did it work?
