Don't Let the Pigeon Stay up late!

Bibliography: Willems, M. (2006). Don't Let the Pigeon Stay up Late! New York, NY; Hyperion Books for Children
Brief Annotation: Pigeon is not tired. He tries everything he can to prove to the readers that he is NOT tired. Even through a little yawn he says he is not tired. He wants to have a hot dog party instead and other types of fun.
Genre: Picturebook, Animal Fiction
Grade Level: Pre-K-1st grade
Readers who will like this: Children who have a hard time going to sleep at night and feel the same way the pigeon does! Children who love pigeon books.
Response/Rating: I would give this book a 3 because I love the sarcasm and humor the pigeon expresses to the readers and I think children will be able to relate to him
Question to ask before a read-aloud: Have you ever had one of those nights where you CAN'T sleep? What do you do?
