Brief Annotation: Riots are occuring as Daniel and his mother watch intently from above. Daniel wonders why people would ever do such terrible things. Their apartment building suddenly catches fire and Daniel's cat runs away and get lost. When he finally finds his cat he learns if the cat can accept differences then he should too.

Genre: Historical Fiction

Grade Level: 2-4

Readers who will like this: Readers who are into books related to historical events and have great adventure.

Response/Rating: 4; I enjoyed the story and how it related to the riots that happened but made it more relatable to children. Plus I LOVED the illustrations and the borders of them.

Question: Does anyone know what a riot is and why people would do such a thing?
