Black and White

Macauley, D. (1990). Black and White. Boston, Mass: Houghton Mifflin Company

Brief Annotation: A complete of four stories on each page that all seem to intersect and then finally come together at the end. A little boy on a train sees strange things on the track and is stuck not moving, people waiting decide to be creative with newspapers, runaway jailbirds hiding in the cows, and a girl with some strange parents.

Genre: Fiction (Caldecott Winner for the illustrations)

Grade Level: K-3

Readers who will like this: Anyone who likes a silly story and a good laugh will enjoy this book.

Response/Rating: 4; One of the most creative books I have read and thought it was funny cover to cover.

Question: Who has ever been on a train or who has ever read a newspaper?
