Mother Goose Numbers on the Loose

Bibliography: Dillon, L., & Dillon, D. (2007). Mother Goose: numbers on the loose. New York: Harcourt

Annotation: This book is a counting book which uses the famous Mother Goose stories to help children see and use numbers. The book repeats the numbers before adding another to the story. Very similar to the 12 days of Christmas song. With every number and number sequence the phrases rhymed. They used the common rhyme that most children have heard 1, 2 buckle my shoe.

Genre: Non-Fiction, Animal Fantasy

Grade: K- 2

Readers: The readers that will enjoy this are young children that know the mother goose rhymes and enjoy counting.

Rate/Response: 7, While I enjoyed this book, I thought it was a little long for children. Most children would not be able to sit still and give their full attention to the book and the concept of the numbers.

Question: Have you heard of Mother Goose? Do you know any rhymes to help you count? Who likes to count things?
