Readers who will like this: Children who have experienced anger; Children with siblings; Children who need assistance with handling their emotions in a healthy way; Children who like colorful pictures; Children who become easily upset.
Response/Rating: 3; Not only did this book have beautiful art and a well-written plot, but it also told a healthy way for children to work out some frustrations. I really appreciated that Sophie dealt with her anger in a way that was not harmful to her or others, and she was able to independently come to a state of mind where she was at peace once again. This would be a great book to read to a child who doesn’t handle their anger in the most appropriate ways!
One question you would ask before a read aloud: What makes you angry? What do you do about those angry feelings?
