Sylvester and The Magic Pebble

Bibliography: Steig, William. Sylvester and the magic pebble. New York: Windmill Books :, 1969

Annotation: A story about a donkey named Sylvester that loves to collect pebbles. One day Sylvester finds a magic pebble that grants him every wish. Sylvester however accidently turns himself into a rock and no one is able to find him. His parents searched for a whole year until one day they had a picnic on a rock and placed the magic pebble on Sylvester and Sylvester wished him back to normal.

Genre: Animal Fantasy

Grade: K-3

Rate/Response: 8 I loved this book. I felt the illustrations and the language was well written for children. I also loved the overall story and concept.

Question: Raise your hand if you collect something special? What is it? Have you ever found something that was special to you?
