Sylvester And The Magic Pebble

Steig, W. (1969). Sylvester And The Magic Pebble. New York, NY: Simon & Schuster Books For Young Readers.

Annotation: Sylvester, the donkey, loves collecting pebbles. One day he finds a magic pebble that will grant his wishes if he is touching it. On his way home he encounters a hungry lion and wishes he would turn into a rock. He can no longer reach the pebble so he has no way to wish himself back into a donkey! Will Sylvester ever get home to his parents?
