Readers who will like this: Children who enjoy stories with talking animals as the main character; children who have found a something interesting; children who like suspenseful stories; children who engage in teamwork.

Rating/Response: 2; While this is a very well written book I find that the idea of a wolf threatening to eat a small child a bit disturbing. I also find it a bit eerie that it is a magic bone that helps Pearl when it could have easily been a different object. The main idea I enjoyed about this book is that of teamwork. It was through teamwork that Pearl and her bone stuck together and made it home safely.

One question I would ask before a read aloud: Who has helped you with something that you wouldn’t be able to do alone? What did they help you do?
