Corduroy

Brief Annotation: Corduroy is a special bear from the department store that a young girl Lisa wants to bring home. Unfortunatley Corduroy is left behind, and realizes he has lost one of his buttons to his overalls during the night when the store is dark and locked up Corduroy wanders up to the beds and couches area of the store and tries to find his button only to be taken downstairs where he belongs, by one of the security officers. The next day, he is brought home by his new friend lisa.
Genre: Animal Fiction, Picturebook
Grade Level: PreK-1st grade
Readers who will like this: Children who enjoy animal fiction, and who have ever felt lost at a store and were curious about what was there.
Response/Rating: I would give this book a 4, because it is a favorite classic of mine. From the illustrations to the concept of discovery that is emphasized, Corduroy is a classic that all young children will enjoy!
Question to ask before a read-aloud: Have you ever been lost in a store and were curious about the things that you saw there?
